DIAGNOdent

The DIAGNOdent is a laser intended for use as an aid in detecting decay. It provides information to supplement DR. Rothenberg's visual observations, considerations of the patient's histories, and information from other diagnostic modalities to arrive at an assessment for the risk of decay and to determine treatment.  The DIAGNOdent can also be used as an aid in monitoring the progression or the stopping of the decay process by comparing the readings from visit to visit.  This valuable aid for detecting decay replaces the old method of using a metal probe to scratch the tooth surface.  Cavities can be found when extremely small and treatment when the cavity is extremely small results in a healthier tooth and preserves important tooth structures.
