Our new instrument, uses CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing) and is called the CEREC 3D. It allows me to complete a ceramic tooth restoration chair side, using an optical impression of the damaged tooth. The veneer or crown is manufactured in my office while the patient waits. This eliminates the need for the patient to come back for a second visit. The milled restoration is extremely precise, very durable, and made with tooth-colored material. In addition, the procedure allows me to treat patients more conservatively, as modern bonding techniques allow more healthy tooth structure to be saved.
